MY AUGUST FEELS LIKE DECEMBER

PIETER DESMET

MULTIDISCIPLINARY, IMMERSIVE

2023

An intimate, multidisciplinary performance where dance, video, sound, and textiles come together to offer space for mourning and comfort. Born from personal loss and the lack of room society gives to grief over time, the work invites audiences to reconnect with sorrow that may have long been silenced.

the Performers take on the role of professional mourners, gently unveiling what is often kept hidden. The performance creates a space where grief is welcome, where individual mourning becomes a shared experience. In this quiet exchange, comfort can be found in the presence of a stranger.
