DESOLATE DREAMS
PIETER DESMET
DANCE - INSTALATION
2018
An installation performance exploring the formation of identity in complete solitude. Without the influence of others—family, friends, society—can the self still take shape? Three performers embody the id, ego, and superego, questioning whether socially constructed aspects of the self can exist in isolation. The work also reflects on how time is perceived when alone, disconnected from shared experience. Set in a silent, atmospheric world, it invites the viewer into an introspective space where identity is stripped bare and reimagined in stillness.
