PIETER CREATES MORPHO GENESIS WITH AND FOR THE DANCE STUDENTS OF DE! KUNSTHUMANIORA, ANTWERPEN
Pieter was asked by de! Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp to create a dance performance for their annual Moving Art performance. He created the dance work Morpho Genesis with the dance students of the 5th year.
Biologically, morphogenesis is the process that causes an organism to evolve its shape towards its based potential according to the defined "blueprint" of that organism. From the Greek "morphê" and "genesis," the word literally means "generating form."
Morpho Genesis mirrors this process with a group of young dancers who constantly change their form, as a group and as individuals. As with plant morphogenesis, Morpho Genesis continues to produce new forms throughout its duration. On stage, the dancers are almost continuously in motion, changing the general shape of their own body and their collective form. Space is created for the quality of the individual in order to increase the potential of the group.
CO-ORGANISING THE PLATEAU22 FESTIVAL (PLATFORM IN DE MAAK)
For the past two years, PERSONA was part of the organizing work group brought together by Platform In De Maak. With this working group, they organized two performing arts festivals in Leuven: the festival that never happened (2021) and PLATEAU22 (2022).
On the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of March 2022 that working group presented the fruits of our 5 month collaboration and our individual artistic practices on PLATEAU22 in Labora and OPEK in Leuven.
OUR INVISIBLE HANDS - SEASONAL NEIGHBOURS
Jonathan is also part of Seasonal Neighbours, a loose-fixed collective, focusing on different forms of seasonality and forms of cohabitation in Europe’s countryside. Through fieldwork, art and design interventions, critical conversations, thoughtful representations and written research, this subject is explored in a myriad of themes. From the evolution of the metabolism of horticulture, the rural landscape and European labour migration stories, to questions about the economy of scale in the agricultural sector, domesticity, public space, new forms of citizenship, etc.
KATHARSIS-RESEARCH WORKSHOPS LED BY STEFFI MENNEN
In the summer of 2022 Steffi led Katharsis-workshops as a continuous physical research in which she explores the body with people who are 60+. They investigated whether one can let go through movement and dance.
With different groups of elderly Steffi gave movement workshops, in which through moving, documenting and reflecting they figured out how and when one is able to surrender oneself fully to the moment.
Katharsis is a research workshop that doesn't want to search for spectacle, nor does it want the participants to create caricature of themselves. It aims for full embracement of oneself without trying to imitate others. The movement workshop will be a celebration of the time together and of what time does to a person and a body.
